Van delivery driver

Location: Wednesbury

Rate: £ 11.00 p/h

Our customer based in Wednesbury are large national furniture company.
We are currently working in partnership to recruit for several van delivery drivers to join their team on a temporary to permanent basis.
Hours of work are Monday to Friday 0600 starts. Generally the job lasts around 10 hours per day, however earliest finish time is 1430 as and when all deliveries are completed.
Applicants will need to have a clean driving licence to apply, and be a minimum of 25 due to insurance purposes.
The successful applicants will be working as part of a 2 man delivery team - this is a straight to customer service, so you will be delivering to their homes and installing/building the product. Training can be provided for the installation side, however any previous experience of DIY, flat pack etc is advantageous. Due to the nature of the product heavy lifting is involved. Candidates will need to have previous experience of manual handling, packages can weigh up to 100kg.
With this being a customer facing role having excellent customer service skills is essential as staff are the first point of contact for the business.

Job Purpose
Responsible for being Brand Ambassadors for the company and delivering their product to the highest possible standard nationwide.
You will ensure all deliveries reach our customers in the best possible condition and give our customer a second to none customer service experience.
Key Duties and responsibilities
 
• Delivering to room of choice, package removal and assembling when required
• Complete daily defect forms and inspection of your vehicle and report any issues to Management immediately.
• load your routed orders onto the vehicle according to company specification when needed.
• You will be provided a set delivery route each day
• Maintain ongoing communication with Transport office
• Review deliveries with customers to ensure products meet their needs.
• Obtain delivery confirmations from each customer
• Cleaning of and day to day vehicle maintenance, ensuring the vehicle is always ready to drive
• Keep accurate records of deliveries and customer authorisation, ensuring all documentation is submitted in a timely manor
• Take pride and extreme care whilst at customers properties, ensuring all necessary precautions are followed to avoid & prevent damages.
• Communicates with customers by phone to update them of time of deliveries if there have been issues or changes to their estimated time of arrival in line with company policy.
• Follows pre-planned route accurately without deviation from set course.
• Informs management of any obstructions to making safe, efficient deliveries on time
• Drive safely and adhere to the UK Domestic Driving Rules

Full clean UK driving licence for at least 12 months QC experience
Good level of customer service skills Home delivery experience
Experience driving larger vans (Luton/Lo Loader etc)
Organised and strong attention to detail and accuracy
