Cleaner

Location: Birmingham, Edgbaston

Rate: £ 9.50 p/h

We are currently recruiting for a cleaner in Birmingham on a temp to perm basis.

This role will be based at Doug Ellis sports centre on Monday and Friday, but will be based at other sites on Tuesday-Thursday; therefore the ability to travel to different locations is essential (primarily Edgbaston- B15, City Centre- B1, B3). The hours of work on Monday and Friday will be from 6.30am-11.30am, on Tuesday-Thursday it will depend on the site where the candidate is based but will be one of 7am-10am, 6.30am-9.30am or 7.00am-9.30am (so flexibility is essential on these days).
Job spec is as follows:
To provide a high quality cleaning service, to Birmingham City University maintaining a clean and safe environment in accordance with the specification.
Undertaking necessary duties to ensure the upkeep of a clean and hygienic environment within the University and associated areas. These duties will be carried out during core hours and throughout the day. As a cleaning operative we should be responsive to service needs as they arise and to constantly seek to improve the productivity and quality of the service we provide.
All work must be undertaken in line with health, safety, BCU and ISS procedures. (to including infection control when such circumstances arise)
Working within the University environment it is important we are aware this is a student environment and circumstances where cleaning operatives could be exposed to sensitive circumstances. ( to be discussed on induction)
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
To ensure company provided uniform is kept clean and tidy and is worn at all times while at work. Always wear identification badge.
PPE provided for tasks carried out by cleaning operatives should worn at all times .
· The effective cleaning and maintenance of all hygiene standards within a designated area and all of its facilities. Comply with the work schedules and using appropriate methods of work, ensuring any service level agreement and quality standards are met in line with Company and BCU expectations.
· Cleaning operatives are responsible for the safe storage and maintenance of appropriate stock and cleaning chemical supplies. Ensuring that these are appropriately stored in line with ISS closet colour coding requirements and available within the designated area.
· Ensure confidentiality, and privacy is maintained at all times in accordance with the Data Protection Act and in line with Company and BCU policy.
· Cleaning Operatives are required to conduct themselves in a professional manner whilst on Birmingham City University premises.
· Ensure you understand and comply with all relevant current legislation as set out in Company and procedures and the related documentation, including the Employee Terms and Conditions Handbook, Employee Health, Safety and Environmental Handbook and security procedures.
· Cleaning Operatives are responsible for securing areas after cleaning as required.
· Responsible for the security of keys.
· Use all mechanical and electrical equipment in a correct and safe manner, using appropriate methods of work, following training, including trolleys and cleaning equipment.
· Maintain a clean, neat and tidy appearance, complying with Company uniform.
· Cleaning operatives should be focused on hand care guidelines and high standards of personal hygiene.
· Participate as required, in regular team meetings, performance reviews, job chats ( tool box talks), return to work discussions and co-operate with accident and other investigations.
Engage in the process to identify your own personal development and training needs and attending agreed training programmes when required.
Report immediately, any accidents faults, equipment or premises defects, especially those which could be dangerous, to your ISS Team Leader or BCU Estate Team.

Any other duties as may be reasonably requested within the grade of the post.
